Pretty simple question really but I was just wondering how people go about finding the next big thing? Obviously getting scouts with the best ratings is essential but do you send them to the places they have the best knowledge of? Do you send them to obscure places for the rough diamond or do you justget a few scouts and get the to study competitions?

I currently have six scouts, all looking solely for Belgians, one does Belgium, the others do other parts of Europe and various Belgian competitions.

I have in almost all of my saves about 8 Scouts and I've put them like this.

- Scout every possible region from Europe & America, North Africa, South Africa and Western Africa
- Scout people who are 23 or under.
- Max player wage £50,000 p/w

Well obviously I try and get the best scouts available to me, though with focus on Judging Potential rather than Ability.

I load a lot of leagues, and get my scouts to work in pairs on the Roaming option for areas. One looks for max age 18 and the other max age 21, the one with the higher ability judging attribute does the higher age obviously. With set wage/value limits depending on club that I'm managing. Also add a youth comp for each scout in the region they are doing; for example, a scout with JP20 I would set to roaming UK&Ireland for player age max 18 and also get them to scout English 18s comp.

I don't usually go for scouts that already have knowledge in an area I plan on sending them scouting, but it usually works out that way anyways.

Have a set of good potential ability spotting scouts roaming various countries and their youth teams/competitions looking for u18s. Has worked well so far for me. Managed to pick up a few gems in past saves.

In my Bournemouth game I don't really have an extensive scouting set up at the moment, they just come to me and tell me they want to scout such and such (two examples recently being Luxembourg and Montenegro) and off they go.

When I can have a scouting network (6+) I send them to these regions - South America, North America, Central Europe, Eastern Europre, Western Africa and Usually another place in Europe, all looking for players 21 and under.

Scout players age at most 23.

Also, I highly recommend to manually scout places like Nigeria, Egypt.
