On a mildly serious note;
You're basically inventing a site, different from this one, to attract children.
Children who shall merely sign up to look for the best young players to sign, who shall contribute nothing, and generally have a maturity lower than ours but without the banter and wit. If you want to hear about your mum's sex life and Fernando Torres scoring 85 goals against some Scottish semi-pro side, then it's all good and dandy, but I expect nothing better from the children you look to attract.
If you were to find a child with the maturity to hold their own in a relatively mature discussion, and offer their opinion without being a twat, then surely the odd 'twat', 'cunt' and 'wanker' will fly straight over their heads without a problem as it would with any of us.
If you don't want it to turn into a zoo of a site, then monitor the off-topic/FM discussion patterns and levels. A few asterisks are not going to stop us calling people cunts, or Crane terrorising down syndromes, or Skacel telling us of his latest failed conquest then blaming it on the girl while Sims wishes cancer on all her kids. It's just going to turn it into an astronomers dream land.
With all due respect, I know what I'm doing. We've created this site from nothing, we know how we want to handle the users we expect to attract. Just because we want to raise the professionalism of the site by doing things such as, filtering abusive language for a younger audience, doesn't mean we're running a creche. If anything, not taking those kinds of steps turns a site into an unproductive creche; and the last thing we want to do is make this a site with 'awesome banter' at its core; all those sites are shit for genuine FM fans; and given this is supposed to be an FM site, it'd make everything we've done thus far redundant.
The idea that a site will only be good if it's a laugh goes out the window. I couldn't care less if 'cool', 'funny', 'banter' people sign-up or not. We built this site for FM fans, and it'll attract FM fans; it is an FM site, after all. Scene people who just want 'lulz' can go wherever they want; we have no desire to provide a platform for puerile nonsense, and we won't.
The key point is this: We don't need to bend over backwards to attract people; we'll get the right audience because we'll focus on what we want to provide. People who are interested in what we do and how we do it, will support us; those who aren't interested, won't.
