I'm genuinely interested. When I look at my best stints at clubs I've always had short, medium and long term goals. At Malaga on FM10 for example a short term goal was sorting the finances, a medium term goal was winning promotion and the long term goal was a Champions League win.

At Pohang I had dreams of building them into the 80s Liverpool of Asia, I wanted a dynasty. At Ajax I wanted to focus on youth and nail a youth policy.

In my return to Malaga my main interest is putting all my FM experiences since FM10 to use. I want to get the scouting a little more organised, get a proper youth policy going and I want to build a more balanced squad.

Rebuilding!

At PSG, it was trying to build an all french squad, overtake OM and Lyon and get somewhere in Europe.

Now at Juventus, I want to rebuild them, get them back into a regular ECC club, and win some shit.

Having clubs to overtake is always a good one. Whenever I'm in Brazil I make it my mission to try and kill Palmeiras, those cunts be the Old Enemy. In Korea I grew to hate Seoul while at Pohang because they had so much money.

Once you knock them off their perch things get stale unless they bounce back or unless someone rises to the challenge though. In the Netherlands with Ajax I climbed to the top and never really faced much competition, which was a joy and a great shame at the same time.

I don't know who to go for in Italy.

Genoa and Sampdoria have improved hugely. Lazio, AC Milan and Palermo have all fallen from grace. It's really all about chasing Inter down.

Champions League.

I'll never forget tearing shit up with Roma on FM09, used to win every competition for fun. Have my team written down on a notepad somewhere. Had a squad with Evra, Bale, Messi, Rooney, Torres, Mascherano and God knows who else.

I want a footballing philosophy, I want to surprise by being innovative and experiment with my ideas.

Formulaic undertones and dogma boss our understanding of the game, and we are all too afraid of sticking to type instead of creating a new perception.

I would like my team to be revered as one of the great teams

Blast from the past Fandango \o/ Good to see you lad.

And your experimenting idea I can relate too as well. At Ajax I worked on a 3-4-3 and I worked on it again this year in Croatia. Its nice when you try new formations and making them work really captures your imagination. It leads to you buying different kinds of players than you normally would and it just freshens up your tactical approach.

The games which keep me interested are usually at teams I haven't picked myself. My Bournemouth game last year was done with the pick a random club for me option, and that was a good game for me. Another favourite of mine is to holiday 10 or so seasons into the game, as I find it dull having the same players constantly signed by the same teams, and I'll always go for the same targets, adding in 10 years of newgens makes it a bit more interesting, and also tends to give a bit of a shake up within the leagues.

2 things:
  • Forging replacements for an ageing squad Chelsea squad
  • Pwning Europe with my 2 trequartista formation
I threw the likes of Anelka, Drogba, Malouda out in the first window. Shit like Hilario, Turbull & Benayoun are long gone. Young blood like Muniain (my highest fee spent at £18m), Azpilicueta & Sven Bender have been brought in. I've probably overbought if I'm honest as I was in the luxurious position of been able to loan out Lukaku.

We've done alright. We absolutely trounced the league in 2012/13. By February I was playing my second string in the league. I forgot about breaking 100pts though and finished on 99 :mrt:

Squad is going through a transition period as it'll be the last season the likes of Terry, Cole & Lampard are with us. They were all starters last season. Got replacements for the latter pair (Angel & Mikel) but need a new JT.

Strongest starting XI this season will be:
  • Cech
  • Azpilicueta
  • Luiz
  • Terry
  • Cole
  • Lampard
  • Bender
  • Ramires
  • Mata
  • Muniain
  • Torres
And as mentioned at the beginning, two of those are trequartistas (Mata AMC & Munian STCL)

How much did Sven Bender set you back?

Thought he'd be the £18m and Muiniain would be relatively cheap.

I had that dream with Wolves, but then I realised how attainable it was and I was put off \o/ I reckon I could have won the title within my first five seasons, not even kidding.

Come the start of the third season I was off the back of an 8th placed finish and I had a squad with the likes of Sturridge, Adam Johnson, Labyad, Siem De Jong, Victor Moses and Diame even though I had never really spent all that much. I had 25m to spend, a huge amount of room in the wage budget, about 40m in the bank and 40m coming in every season off TV money alone.

I finished 8th my first season and 5th my second season. But fuck me, breaking down the top 2 or 3 is anything but attainable because each club has a warchest!

My third season I came 6th, 4th season I came 6th, my breakthrough season was when I finished 3rd in my 5th Season but then the next seasons I finished 6th again. Mind you, Wolves are probably in a healthier financial position to Bolton - I haven't had a transfer budget over 10M in 7 years.

Currently 1st in February by 1 point to Arsenal, 2 points to Citeh and 3 Points to United. Could this be the year?

I'm St Johnstone. And after 5 years im still battling relegation and trying to break into the top 6. What keeps me interested is the constant battle against finances, my wage budget gets dropped every season and i don't think i've ever had a transfer budget outwith the first Summer. The fact you have to include 3 under 21's means i have to bring through decent youngsters, and blooding them and watching them develop season by season keeps me going. Especially since the majority are locally born

My Career

St Johnstone - 2011 to present

Scotland Under 19's - 2016 to 2017

TV money served us really well and we weren't really spending all that on wages. I was also making a decent amount on sales because I cashed in on a couple of players as they didn't serve me well. Jarvis was sold in the second season for 8m, Giroud was bought in the first season and sold in the summer of the third at 5m profit even though he was shite, Ebanks-Blake was sold for 6m somehow, Zubar went for 4m and O'Hara went for 7m.

Also the wages at Wolves are really low for some reason, Sturridge and Johnson were my only players earning above 40k (both were on about 45k), Diame was on 30k and I managed to get Hunt from 30k to 17k. Everyone else was under 25k.
