and we're off, chose Ivory Coast to get a decent chance of an early trophy and to break into the World's elite Nations. Unfortunately we're chokers when it comes to major tournaments!

I feel good about this game as I have a few ideas for tactics and I'm doing Nationalistic Management!!

So... tactics!

I thought to myself 'who's the best team in the world right now?'... Barcelona.

There's a simple way to think tactics in FM08. "Set up to defend, arrow to attack"

Farrows & Sarrows: These work when you have the ball in possession
Barrows: These apply when you don't have possession

With that in mind you can see I have a flat back 5 when the opposition have the ball (barrow applied to DM) and an array of farrows and sarrows when we have the ball. Let's see if this works.

If you're not familiar as to why i have done this, then look at this network game me and a friend have been playing. He's England and I'm Holland:

This is the Euro 2008 final, and he won! So I'm taking a leaf out of his book to see if this shit works or if it was a fluke.

So it turns out I'll have to test my tactics in a major tournament first. Suppose that's what comes from starting in January 2008.

So my group is:
Angola
Tanzania
Zambia

If we don't come out of this group with at least 9 points, I'll shoot myself.

...bit nervous about the tactics now. I could find myself changing them within half an hour of creation!

Dominated the hardest team in the group. It's pleasing to watch my LB & RB getting beyond the half way line with plenty of room left by the AML & AMR cutting inside, when we have the ball.

It's also very pleasing to see the DM dropping back to make a flat back 5 when the opposition have the ball, only happened once such was our domination.

Good possession too.

Pickings, by this rate I'll be winning the final 8-0! However Yaya's injured but only a gashed arm, phew. Should be back game after next.

Ah, problem!

One of these boys even has a cold, in Africa! Malaria I could understand but not a cold!! Got these boys out, only 1 fit keeper and a Yaya Toure who's still not quite fit.

Next round I've got Senegal. My first challenge.

The early sending off influenced the style of play but I think the result would've been mine anyway. Yaya's goal was sublime.

Onwards we march with semi's in our view (that last sentence may need revising)

Mali up next, Kanoute and all (he's amazing in 08 btw)

Just seen that teams have had a total of 9 shots against us in 4 games, by anyone's standards that's very good.

And we've also averaged 60% of the possession from all of our games. Have I stumbled upon a very good formation or is it just a good team playing against utter shite?

Look at post #5, those are my tactics. I think they're quite unique due to arrows and the lack of a striker.

Nooooooooooo, I conceded a goal!!! Freddie got the better of us! In other, less important news, we're through to the final to face Cameroon and a Sammy Eto'o who is currently 2 goals ahead of anyone in the scoring charts! Kolo & Meite need to keep things tight at the back cos my only keeper's bollocks!
