So that rounds up 2008, here's all of the fixtures and results from that year...

Roll on 2009 and the chance to qualify for the World Cup.

Keita to the rescue and the first goal conceded in the qualifiers. Haven't heard any news about qualifying for the African Nations yet, I guess I'm involved!

Almost forgot to post my team of the year (Best 11)

So back to qualifiers. Holidaying's quite nice at the moment, means I can watch Die Hard on the iplayer :D

Through, as if I was going to fail here. It will be nice to see my World Cup group, don't think the seeds can go my way as South Africa can't be in the same group as me. This ensures I'll have a World Super Power (WSP from now on) in my group.

Looking for 2nd in this group. France have a good squad and this game was made largely before their shitness. South Korea should be a good game, they will have a hard working team. Sweden will be the surprise package as they have a good midfield and Zlatan :/

and with that goes another year!

Tis that time again, only 2 years after my final loss and we're back for the African Nations. This time it's held in Nigeria and I've been given a belter of a group.

Senegal
South Africa
Tunisia

It's hard to think that 2 of these teams WILL be going home in just 3 games time. I sincerely hope it's no me as that would be job lost, without a doubt.

Tough looking group however, should be good to see how your tactic stands up against this.

Fm's playing it's normal trick on me, luckily I got 2 goals to counter their 1 shot on target, which inevitably went in. Solid star to the campaign and we should have won by more.

Tactic news: The possession against a good South Africa team is very pleasing as is the amount of shots they had.

Good win and qualification for the Quarters from this group.

A negative though my keeper has faced a total of 5 shots with 3 on target and he's let in 2 :( I really hope this doesn't keep happening otherwise it won't take much for us to be going home!

We've had a total of 43 shots, 17 on target for 5 goals!! I need a new keeper!

Last game, did enough to get by. Played a couple of players I normally wouldn't. Bit disappointed to concede 2 goals in a game for the first time ever, but 2 years conceding only a hand full of goals is a superb record.

Quarter Final game! Great result against one of the best African teams in history. Yet again our shot count is very high and theirs is very low, however they still managed a goal from just 2 shots on target! This is slightly taking the piss now.

Got Nigeria, the hosts, in the Semis. Toughest game yet.

This means I will have played:
South Africa
Tunisia
Senegal
Egypt
Nigeria
Senegal or Cameroon (if I get to the final)

Talk about doing this the hard way! In there is pretty much every good African Nation AND we've battered them all so far with plenty more possession and plenty more shots :D

Quite a bit pissed off here!!! Should've won this game easily. In typical FM fashion the only clean sheet we keep in the whole tournament we also don't score. Need to practice our penalties too.

Tactics watch: We had the better of all the play again against a good side and on any other day would've won. I think I've created a formation that allows your team to keep the ball well although the real test comes against France in the World Cup!

The game says I have Senegal in the 3/4th playoff, going to play a reserve team as 1: I don't care if I win or lose that game and 2: Think most of my players will be knackered after 2 extra time games in a row.

That should read Ivory Coast reserves 2-1 Senegal. Brought on a few of the first teamers towards the end but the game was never in doubt. The opposition got their usual 1 goal in 2 shots on target though. If I had a quality keeper I swear I'd be in the top 10 rated Nations in the World.

As it stands I'm currently 12th :D

I'll do a mini update with the team of the year from last year as, once again, I have forgotten it. (along with my vote for World & African Player of The Year (got them all correct last year))

Team of the year (best 11) for 2009.

Interestingly I have never played Didier Drogba in DM so why he's there I have no idea!

The back 4, central midfield 2 and Kalou are in their normal places though. I normally have Lolo in DM, Keita AMR & Drogba in AMC.

All I have now is to holiday until the World Cup where I plan to get out of the group. Beyond that will be a bonus.

Didn't expect this one tbh. Got Sweden next and a win there and I'm already through to the second round!
