Non League Thread 2011/12

31 October 2011 - 02:08 PM

Not sure how many of you follow non league or anything, but I normally have a look now and then so you might do too.

Morrell looks set to become Wrexham manager, think he'll do well. Thought he would become a manager in the couple of seasons he had with us, and if he does decent there I wouldn't mind seeing him manage us in the future. Though more than likely he'll manage Doncaster if he's any good!

Hopefully Fleetwood will pip his current team to top spot this season mind, as for obvious reasons I prefer them to Wrexham! Shocked that Luton haven't managed to work their way back into the league but I have no doubt they'll be in the play offs. More shocked at how far down Lincoln find themselves in their first season in the Blue Square Prem! They are really in free fall.

Any of you follow or keep an eye on your local semi-pro teams?

FM12 Steam Update

24 October 2011 - 02:47 PM

Just had my Steam download an update for FM12, don't know what it was for and can't find anything out on SI forums at the mo.

Any of you Twitterholics know anything more?

New English Youth Setup

20 October 2011 - 04:04 PM

BBC Story and a BBC Blog - as I probably won't cover it very well.

Personally I think this is ridiculous. The Premier League seem to have blackmailed the Football League into this system by threatening to remove youth development funding from them if the change didn't go through. Basically, if clubs can no longer agree a fee for a player who is not on professional terms, instead of it going to a panel who decide the price, the buying club now pay a pitiful £3,000 per year spent at the selling clubs academy plus an extra £12,000 - £40,000 depending on the status of the academy bought from. So now Premier League clubs can hoover up any decent prospects from Football League clubs for under £100,000 rather than the millions they usually pay.

Wasn't sure where to put this, sorry mods.

Just seen this story on the SI boards, not sure what to think!
